Govt has until May 27 to decide on Lake Wabby appeal

THE State Government has another two weeks to weigh up whether it will appeal against a Supreme Court decision that held it liable for damages for an Irish tourist who broke his neck at Lake Wabby in 2007.

The court decided the government had breached its duty of care for Evan Joseph Kelly, who fell headfirst into the lake after running on the sand dune.

A spokeswoman for the Department of National Parks confirmed the government had until May 27 to decide on an appeal.
