Graceful young dancer Elle’ana is devoted to her craft

RACKING up 10 years of dancing at the eisteddfod is a notable achievement, but for 14-year-old Elle'ana Gonzalez, it's just another number.

Elle'ana is a little star - she lives and breathes dancing, after first pulling on the leotard and tutu as a toddler.

She entered the eisteddfod at five years of age and hasn't looked back; she's a natural stage performer.

"I've been dancing forever. There's pictures and videos of me singing and dancing when I was two," she says.

Elle'ana loves the Gladstone City Eisteddfod and she competes in all categories of dance, including jazz, tap, modern, ballet, contemporary and more.

The Year 9 student attends Rampton's Danzenergy Studio and is taught by Sherrie Rampton.

Her dedication is evident in her graceful routines and the way her eyes light up when talking about dance.

"I practise every day, but I love practising. I get up in the morning and practise then after school I practise then I have dance class."

She recently competed in the 2014 Gladstone Dance Festival where she won multiple trophies, and had a ball while she was at it.

"I really enjoyed the dance fest - I haven't done it in a year or two now," Elle'ana says.

She's modest and sweet, but also focused.

"My passion is dance. I love to dance on stage, it's how I express myself. I want to be in a contemporary company when I grow up."

Elle'ana won't just be dancing this year.

"I will be doing all the singing categories at the eisteddfod," she says.

Elle'ana is heading off to the Bundaberg Eisteddfod next week but says she can't wait for her hometown's event in August.
