Greenshields to make NRL return

SAWTELL Panthers junior Clint Greenshields will make his long awaited return to the NRL next season with North Queensland following six seasons playing in the English Super League.

The Coffs Harbour born France international will link up with the Cowboys late next month signing a one year deal to restart his NRL career after his move to French side Catalans Dragons in 2007.

Playing 36 games for St George-Illawarra between 2004 and 2007, the former Toormina High student also spent time at the Brisbane Broncos and Wests Tigers earlier in his career.

The 30 year-old will need to do battle with incumbent Cowboys custodian Matt Bowen for playing time in 2013 however father Mark Greenshields believes his son's ability to play across the back line will ensure the move is a success.

"Clint is really looking forward to getting back into the NRL and I know he will be ready to hit the ground running when he starts pre-season training," Mark Greenshields said.

"He can play a few positions and I think that will give him plenty of chances to get on the field next season.

"It will be great to have him back in Australia his mum and I can't wait to see him play again."

Greenshields will be one three former Sawtell Panthers juniors in the NRL next season alongside Kevin Gordon at the Gold Coast Titans and Jarrod Wallace at the Brisbane Broncos.
