Two-minute grocery grab auctioned for a good cause
HOW long does it take you to do your shopping?
What if you had two minutes to grab as many items as possible?
Shoppers at the Super IGA in Pialba are able to bid on the chance to do just that.
The auction is part of fundraiser for the Bayside Transformations rehabilitation program which is designed to give drug and alcohol users a second chance.
There will also be a charity dinner on July 6 at Gatakers Landing Restaurant where there will be a series of items available for auction.
Bayside Transformations managing director Darren Yates said the fundraiser would help people who were trying to rebuild their lives.
"Every shopper has the opportunity to put in a silent bid for the amount they would like to pay for the opportunity to grab groceries in two minutes," he said.
"Our residents in our program actually shop here every week and Brett and his staff support the guys as they learn to budget with their shopping."
Super IGA owner Brett Leishman said he enjoyed supporting a great cause.
"I believe in giving these guys an opportunity," he said.
"Obviously they've hit hard times and they're looking to better themselves and we'll do anything we can to help along the way."
