Gulf lays down Qatar demands

SAUDI Arabia and its Gulf allies have issued a list of demands to Qatar to end their diplomatic crisis.

Faced with a boycott by the Saudis, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, Qatar has been told to shut the Al Jazeera news network, cut back diplomatic ties to Iran, close down a Turkish military base in Qatar and sever all ties with the Muslim Brotherhood and other groups such as Hezbollah, al-Qaeda and Islamic State, according to a list obtained by the Associated Press from one of the involved countries.

The Saudis and their allies have accused Qatar of funding terrorism.

Qatar has reportedly been given 10 days to meet the demands, including payment of an unspecified sum in compensation.

The US had been pressing the Saudis and its allies to produce a list of demands to Qatar.
