Hardworking truckie retires after million-dollar Lotto win

A HARDWORKING truck driver from Bribie Island has declared he's now officially retired after the revelation he won division one in the weekend's Saturday Gold Lotto draw.

His entry was one of three $1.364m division one winning entries nationally.

When a Golden Casket official asked how he might use his windfall, the man responded with no hesitation.

"I've retired as of yesterday.

"It's an early retirement for me."

The man admitted he had already been revelling in his win.

"I can't believe it. I've been celebrating with my family so I was hoping it wasn't a dream," he said.

"I had my family come over to double check too."

"I haven't had a holiday for a long time so that's on the cards. I'll also be paying off the house and just sitting back.

"This has happened at just the right time. It's changed my life!"

The regular Saturday Gold Lotto player explained he had been marking his entry with the same numbers for years.

"Years ago I just wrote all the numbers down, put them in a hat, picked them out and said 'right, that'll do me!'."

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his marked System 8 entry from Nextra Bribie Island, Shop 10-11, 239 Goodwin Drive, Bribie Island.

The win comes as long-time Nextra Bribie Island owners Ross and Renata Lever have handed over the reins of the outlet to new owners Steve and Angela Kurtz.
