Hauser helps make Australian triathlon history

FORMER Hervey Bay athlete Matthew Hauser has helped make Australian triathlon history.

The now Gold Coast-based triathlete was part of the first Australian team team to win a mixed relays gold medal at the World Triathlon Series event in Hamburg.

Hauser's blistering swim, Games selection out of his hands

Hauser competed alongside Charlotte McShane, Ashleigh Gentle and Tasmanian Jake Birtwhistle in the event, in which each athlete completes a 300m swim, 7km bike and 1.6km run, and is part of the Commonwealth Games program and was recently added to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Hauser finished 20th in the individual men's event.
