Heading down the right path

WORK will – eventually – be carried out on the western footpath of Main Street between Old Maryborough and Torquay roads to stop people tripping up.

The trip hazards have been caused by sunken pit surrounds, broken pit lids nd displaced pavers and concrete footpath.

The estimated cost to fix it is $10,000.

Council staff have recommended that “any major footpath replacement will be considered in future works programs as part of the general upgrading/reconstruction of this road segment”.

The recommendation was supported by councillors.

Meanwhile a handful of Maryborough roads look good for some work in this year's budget at a cost of $450,000. They are Odessa Street and Blackburn Street in Granville and Gympie Road, Tinana, near Sorensen Street on the west side.

A priority 2 list of roads has been attached to the council's report and this includes an estimated $500,000 to be spent on Old Coach Road.

Deputy mayor Julie Arthur successfully argued for design work to be done for the road in future budget deliberations.
