Help for businesses with private dollars

BUSINESSES which attract private investment are now able to apply for even more money to get their ventures working.

Up to $5 million is available for business ideas which attract equal co-contributions from private investors and state government.

It is part of the Palaszczuk Government's Business Development Fund.

In it, the Queensland Government will provide matching investment contributions ranging from $125,000 up to $2.5 million, alongside private sector co-investors.

Ms Palaszczuk said the idea was to grow small to medium sized businesses into powerhouses.

"...they are the profit-makers and above all, they are the job creators," she said.

"Around the world, governments are supporting the early stages of business development to get these business ideas off the ground."
