Syringe robbery suspect identified
HERVEY Bay police say a suspect has been identified in the armed robbery of a Scarness cafe.
Cash was stolen during the brazen daylight robbery of the cafe, on the corner of Zephyr Street and the Esplanade, on January 25.
A male staff member was threatened with a syringe before the offender fled with a large sum of money and the employee’s wallet.
While an arrest is yet to be made, police say investigations into the incident are “progressing”.
They have also released a comfit of a man wanted for questioning.
The offender is said to have asked for a drink and then pulled out the syringe when the staff member returned with the item.
He is described as being Aboriginal in appearance, 180 centimetres tall and has a slim build.
He was wearing a red baseball cap with yellow colouring on the front and a faded black t-shirt at the time of the robbery.
