Hervey Bay pool refurbishment cost blows out to $1 million

THE cost of the Hervey Bay pool refurbishment has blown out to $1 million because a new concrete shell had to be poured over the existing shell.

The original cost of the Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre was $780,000 and included removing the old fibreglass surfacing and relining the entire pool with pebblecrete.

Councillor Darren Everard said the end wall of the pool would be removed to ensure it was still 50m and the planned finish date for the project was November.
