THE spirit of Christmas carols lovers in Hervey Bay has been dampened with news the Hervey Bay RSL Christmas carols concert will not go ahead.

The concert was organised to take place Saturday, December 12, but was cancelled due to wet weather and soggy grounds.

More than 16mm of rain fell down on Hervey Bay as the concert was being set up on Saturday day.

But those hopeful of the carols being re-organised have been left high and dry.

Carols co-organiser Julie Terry said it was too tricky to reorganise the concert in the short amount of time left before Christmas.

"It's took six months to put all the logistics into place (for the December 12 date), especially with the fireworks and everything that is needed," she said.

"It will not be rescheduled."
