Hervey Bay team rules its way into the final week's kitchen
HERVEY Bay's kitchen dream team Dan and Steph Mulheron have won a spot in the final week of My Kitchen Rules, after "villains" Ashlee Pham and Sophia Pou were eliminated from the reality cooking show last night
The queens of Asian cuisine Ashlee Pham and Sophia Pou were eliminated from the reality cooking show last night after a drama-filled cook-off against Dan and Steph and Victoria's Sam and Chris.
After making the risky choice to cook kidney, rather than offloading the tricky ingredient to another team, Pou and Pham found themselves in a sudden death cook-off against Sam and Chris, with Dan and Steph winning a spot in the finals week with their fall-off-the-bone veal dish.
"We knew it was a risk, but we knew if we executed it then it was going to be a stand out," Pou said.
The Sydneysiders had fierce rivalries with fellow gatecrashers Angela and Melina and Adelaide's Jenna and Joanna but they did walk away with a friendship with Hervey Bay's Dan and Steph.
Despite being nicknamed "the dragon ladies" by their fellow contestants, the eliminated Sydney girls forged a friendship with the Fraser Coast couple.
"I have always said if it wasn't Ash and I taking out that cheque then I want it to be Dan and Steph," Pou said.
"They are so genuine. They're really intelligent people who can think for themselves.
"They were always good to us… we had so many laughs with those two."
The dragon ladies still have one more chance to get back into the MKR finals.
Sunday's final Comeback Kitchen cook-off will see Pou and Pham compete against their old rivals Angela and Melina and Tasmania's Mick and Matt.
My Kitchen Rules airs on Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 6.30pm on Channel 7.
