Hervey Bay young gun now an All Star

HERVEY Bay's Thomas Schulz has been named in the Australian All Stars merit side after starring for Queensland Country at the National Youth Football Championships.

The 14-year-old centre back said he was shocked by his inclusion.

"When I heard my name it was an awesome feeling," he said.

"I didn't expect it at all."

Three players from the Fraser Coast - Schulz, Ryan Palmer (both under-14) and Aidan Ward (under-13) - travelled to Coffs Harbour to face the best football players in their age groups.

Both Queensland Country sides finished the week-long tournament undefeated with only points or goal difference denying them top spot in their groups.
