Police confirm driver involved in crash was 96 year old man

UPDATE 10.30am: A SPOKESPERSON from the Queensland Police Service says the driver involved in the crash yesterday was a 96-year-old Kawana man.
The passenger in the car was a 91-year-old Norman Gardens woman.
The woman died on the scene yesterday, while the man died from his injuries a few hours later at Rockhampton Hospital.
UPDATE 3.40pm: POLICE have confirmed the elderly man involved in this morning's crash has died at hospital.
The man is believed to be aged in his 90s.
An elderly woman died at the scene.
UPDATE NOON: Rockhampton District Duty Officer Senior Sergeant Tom Nelson talks about what happened on Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd this morning.
The Rockhampton-bound dual-lane is expected to be closed for a number of hours as investigations continue.
UPDATE 11.20AM: ONE of the vehicles involved in a fatal crash on Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd pulled out in front of traffic.
Queensland Ambulance Service acting senior operational supervisor Jason Thompson told reporters at the scene the vehicle was in the access 4 intersection and entered traffic on the main road.
One male with head injuries is in a critical condition and has been transported to hospital.
An elderly female was pronounced dead on the scene.

Update 11.10am: POLICE are creating detours around a fatal crash on the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd.
Reports indicate the Rockhampton-bound lane will be closed as emergency services continue to work at the scene where an elderly woman has died and two others were injured.
It is believed the Yeppoon-bound dual-lane will be diverted to one lane of traffic and allow the Rockhampton-bound traffic to use the other lane.
The cop car involved in the secondary accident at Ironpot has been towed from the scene.
UPDATE 10.55AM: A POLICE car and an ambulance vehicle have been involved in a separate crash near a fatal crash on the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd.
The Bulletin crew are at the scene of the fatal and report there were no injures in the police/ambulance crash which was on the opposite side to the fatal scene.
UPDATE 10.40AM: POLICE are diverting traffic from the scene of a fatal crash on the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd.
The fatal crash, involving two vehicles, has occurred in the Rockhampton-bound lane.
While details are at this stage unclear, it appears in a separate incident a police vehicle has also crashed on the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd directly parallel to the fatal crash in the Yeppoon-bound lane.
No police officers have been injured in the crash.
UPDATE 10.15am: ONE person is dead and one had head injuries after a serious crash on the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd, according to reports.
It is believed the crash has occurred near access 4 on the main road, heading towards Rockhampton.
Reports indicate an elderly female has died as a result of the crash and a male passenger has sustained head injuries and is unresponsive.
The latest information suggests a Barina was not involved, but the vehicle has been described as a white sedan.
There are no other reports of injuries.
BREAKING 10am: EMERGENCY services are en route to a serious crash on the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd.
Reports indicate the crash has occurred at high speed between a Triton ute and a Barina.
An elderly female is trapped in vehicle and a male passenger of the Barina is bleeding.
It is believed the crash site is between access 3 and 4 at Ironpot on the Rockhampton-bound side of the dual lane section.
