Council dump fees on the rise

ISIS residents are up for new waste management fees and charges from September 27.

For domestic waste and domestic green waste the charge will be $5 a load for a sedan, station wagon, ute or small trailer. For larger domestic loads – dual axle trailer, large ute or small trucks, one to three tonne – the charge will be $22.50.

Commercial loose waste, including builders’ waste and green waste, start at a minimum charge of $6.50 for a partial load in a ute or small trailer up to $20 for a full load. Semi-trailers and dual axle trucks with dog trailers will be $325.

Bundaberg Regional Council waste and recycling spokesperson and deputy mayor Tony Ricciardi yesterday said the increases were inevitable.

“Our operating costs have greatly increased, due to things out of our control, including government compliance. Just one of the new costs is the sampling of groundwater at various sites around each of our seven landfill sites, which is an annual cost of $250,000,” he explained.

“We are continually striving to improve the quality of our facilities and have had positive comments from many regular facility users who have noticed the improvements.”
