MP says govt cannot deliver beds

HINKLER MP Paul Neville has accused the government of lowering its own bar after 140 aged care beds were set aside for possible funding in the 2009-2010 Aged Care Approvals Round.

Mr Hinkler said only 120 of last year’s 200 beds got funding in the same area covering Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Bundaberg and hinterland areas from Monto down to Kingaroy.

“It is hard to be optimistic about the full 140 beds being delivered next time around.

“With its older age profile the Wide Bay region needs more beds, not fewer, and it seems this government simply cannot deliver them.”
