Hit a home run with Hervey Bay

A NEW softball program is adding a splash of colour to Hervey Bay's softball diamonds.

Any child 10 years or younger who registers for the Simple Softball program will receive one of four different coloured gloves and a ball.

The seven-week development scheme provides participants with an introduction to the spor, focusing on learning the game and the skills of softball through fun group activities.

Hervey Bay Softball vice-president Damien Maahs said the association has already had a good response.

"Most of the kids are new to the game and have never played any sport whatsoever," he said.

"It's a great way for them to learn the game while having some fun.

"After seven weeks they have the option to play in a team and play T-ball."

Registrations are now open with the first session to be held on Saturday, October 13.
