Leaders race to Hervey Bay glory

TWO teams proved a point in the Hervey Bay Hockey Association senior competition on Saturday.

Brothers and Magpies showed why they are on top of the ladder in their respective divisions after both recorded convincing wins at Torquay’s McFie Park.

In the men’s division, Brothers, who wrapped up the minor premiership last week, beat second-placed Youngbloods 4-1. Magpies defeated Fraser Flames 3-1 in the other game of the round.

Magpies were also in goal-scoring form in the women’s competition, beating Youngbloods 3-1.

Brothers just did enough to beat Fraser Flames 2-1 in the other game of the day.
