Horse sale a galloping success

ABOUT 500 eager shoppers flocked to Maryborough Park for the Horse Sale and General Auction at the weekend.

Fraser Coast Show Society executive officer Martine Britton hailed the event as a great success. About 85 per cent of the goods on offer were snapped up by bargain hunters, she said.

The opportunity to buy and sell expanded this year with the introduction of a general auction.

“There were probably around 30 saddles and most of them got sold,” Ms Britton said. “We had a really good sale ratio.”

A portable washing machine and a caravan were among the most unusual goods sold by popular auctioneer Len Jansan.

Ms Britton said about 12 volunteers helped to make the sale a terrific event.

It will certainly be held again next year, if not sooner, she said.
