Housing Minister wants to see more mergers like M'boro one

UPDATE: Fraser Coast Housing will merge with Victorian not-for-profit group Community Housing Ltd in the type of partnership the State Government would like to see repeated.

Queensland Housing Minister Tim Mander officiated the ceremony at the Brolga Theatre on Tuesday morning and welcomed the merger.

He said it was the type of partnership the State Government hoped to see happen across the state as it moves towards the 2020 Housing Vision policy.

The policy calls for 90% of social housing to be managed by the private sector.

Fraser Coast Housing chief executive Ian Clunn said the partnership could mean an opportunity to build more housing for the region.

He said demand for crisis and affordable housing remained high on the Fraser Coast.

EARLIER: Queensland Housing Minister Tim Mander will visit the Fraser Coast on Tuesday to help launch a new partnership between Fraser Coast Housing and Community Housing Ltd.

The Minister will take part in a ceremony at the Brolga Theatre.
