How Baumanis fired Bullets to netball title

NETBALL: There is a very clear and very easy way to understand why Isabelle Baumanis is touted as one of the best prospects in Fraser Coast netball.

The Bullets goal shooter was in fantastic form for Boscia's Hervey Bay Netball Division 1 grand final winning team, rarely missing from anywhere in the circle to win the title.

Bullets coach Kerrianne Farrelly didn't even need to hear the whole question before she named Baumanis as her side's most influential player during the grand final.

"Her shooting, you see how calm and collected she is,” Farrelly said.

"As a young player coming through, she is someone to watch. She made the Queensland Country team, and this is definitely why she made it.

"She keeps that calmness, she follows through, she's there for the rebound and knows when to drive through.”

Baumanis barely missed a shot as Bullets pulled away from a one-point half-time lead to a six-point win, to claim the club's first Division 1 title since 2016. She is part of the under-19s Sunshine Coast Lynx team, and is a member of Hervey Bay's Queensland Premier League team.

Baumanis and Sunshine Coast Lynx teammate Jaymee Ericson, a former Bullets player based in Bundaberg, were named in the 12-strong country team for the inaugural three-game 18 and under City v Country series.

Bullets captain Beth Tyson was glowing in her praise for the New Zealand-born teenager.

"She is cool, calm and collected,” Tyson said.

"Nothing much fazes her and she is dynamite. She turns and shoots, and I know I have every faith when I put it in her hands it will go through the hoop, and if it doesn't go through the hoop, she is going to rebound it.

"She is going to be the next big thing. She's beautiful on and off the court.”
