Human remains have been discovered at Tin Can Bay

HUMAN remains have been discovered in a pine tree plantation off Cooloola Rd at Tin Can Bay.

Police are investigating the circumstances and said early information suggested the discovery was made by forestry workers on a clearing operation about 8am on Thursday.

Police said a land search and forensic examination of the scene was ongoing.

"This matter is being treated as a new investigation, however, inquiries are being conducted to establish or rule out links to known homicide or missing persons investigations," the police representative said.
