Humpbacks defend title at state championships

SIX members from the Hervey Bay Humpbacks collectively won 23 medals at the Queensland State Masters Short Course Championships at Rockhampton.

Secretary Paula Hewett said the championships were attended by 200 swimmers from across Queensland.

She said member Linda Hodkinson took out gold in the 100m freestyle event.

"She was delighted to defend her 2017 title in the 100m freestyle," Paula said.

"She swam a personal best which was one of many over the four days."

The Hervey Bay Humpbacks meet each Sunday from 9am at the Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre, Boundary Rd, Wondunna.

New members aged between 18 to 100 years are encouraged to join.
