A VICTORIAN tourist who slipped on rocks at Indian Head has been flown off Fraser Island by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

The 58-year-old woman was on a day tour of the island when she slipped, injuring her leg about noon on Monday.

Fraser Island paramedics transported the woman 10km north to Orchid Beach where the Bundaberg-based RACQ CareFlight helicopter was able to land.

She was stabilised by the helicopter's intensive care flight paramedic before being flown to Hervey Bay Hospital.
