Illegal fire burns through thousands of hectares on Fraser

AN ILLEGAL campfire caused a wildfire on Fraser Island that crews have been battling for a number of days.

According to the Department of Environment and Science, the wildlife has burned through about 3000 hectares of land on Fraser Island.

There is no current threat to lives or property.

Fire conditions are easing, but visitors have been reminded to light fires in designated areas and out them out with water.
