GWS STAR Josh Kelly has turned his back on rival offers to re-sign with the Giants.

Kelly has inked a new two-year deal, locking him in until the end of 2019.

Kelly's playing future has been the subject of intense speculation this year with clubs including North Melbourne, Carlton, St Kilda and Essendon courting the 22-year-old.

It is a major boost for the Giants ahead of its preliminary final showdown with Richmond at the MCG on Saturday.

"I'm really excited to remain a Giant," Kelly said.

"This club has been my home for four years and I'm thrilled this will continue.

"It's been a big year but the time was right now to make a decision ahead of what is no doubt going to be a really big game.

"I love this club and being part of building what we're working to create here."

It was reported earlier this year North Melbourne had tabled a mega nine-year deal to lure Kelly back to his home state.

The gun midfielder has missed just one match this year in a breakout season, earning All-Australian honours.

He is the third-favourite to win the Brownlow Medal behind Tigers star Dustin Martin and Hawk Tom Mitchell.

GWS football boss Wayne Campbell said Kelly's commitment is a show of faith in the direction and future of the club.

"We're thrilled Josh has re-signed with the club," he said.

"We know it was a big decision for him and one he didn't take lightly and it's a huge endorsement for our football club that this is where he wants to be.

"Josh is highly valued member of the playing group both on and off the field and that's why we're so excited by his re-signing.

"He's already a leader of our club and we're really looking forward to his next few seasons."

Kelly joins fellow young gun Jacob Hopper in re-signing with the Giants in recent weeks, while out-of-contract forward Devon Smith's future remains unclear.

Smith has been heavily linked with Geelong.
