AN injured man in his 60s was extracted by emergency services from popular walking destination Finch Hatton Gorge this afternoon.

Queensland Ambulance Services were called to assist the male patient, aged 66, at 1.26pm.

A QAS spokesman said they enlisted the help of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to help extract the man from Williams Cascade, a location within the gorge/

The spokesman said the man allegedly suffered a dislocated knee, but it is unknown how the injury occurred and whether he was in company.

"We have attended the scene, we have rendered the assistance of the QFES to escort from the watering hold back down to the QAS base," he said.

"We are currently transporting that patient to Mackay Hospital."

A QFES spokeswoman said the man was taken out on a stretcher.
