THIS crime scene reconstruction shows the limited views snipers had of the Lindt cafe's interior during the 17-hour siege in Sydney in December 2014.

The image is part of a collection released by police to give an insight into the visuals afforded three police sniper teams that were given the job of taking out gunman Man Haron Monis.

Cafe manager Tori Johnson and barrister Katrina Dawson died during the terrifying stand-off.

The inquest into the hostage crisis on Tuesday heard that the three police sniper teams were stationed around Martin Place.

One team was located in the Reserve Bank of Australia and the others were positioned in the Channel 7 and Westpac buildings.

The inquest heard the officers' view inside the café was just a few metres with  decorations on the cafe's windows obstructing clear views into the scene.

The ABC reported that one sniper, known as  Sierra 3-3, told the inquest he had little confidence he could achieve a "kill shot".

"Having two mediums of glass to get through, the potential hazard that would cause if the shot was missed, the risk to those inside - all of these things greatly reduced our confidence," he said.

"However if there is an imminent or life threatening situation occurring, we would attempt to act, as acting is better than doing nothing."  - ARM NEWSDESK
