Local Iraqi man desperate for work

TARIQ Al-Zabidi came to Australia for a new life, but after moving to Maryborough to be with his girlfriend he has struggled to find a job.

The 36-year-old is ready to work: he just needs a foot in the door.

Tariq moved to Australia from Iraq in November 2008.

He and his family arrived in Melbourne, where Tariq worked in the insulation industry.

He also has extensive experience in the security industry; in Iraq he worked as a bodyguard – but is still waiting to receive his Australian security licence.

In the meantime he’s willing to work for anyone that will give him a go.

“I will do anything it takes,” he said.

“Anything is better than Centrelink.

“I don’t want to move away – I love it here and the weather is much better than in Melbourne.

“I just want to fix my work situation.”

Tariq has been working with employment advisor Jon Fordham at Community Solutions in his bid to find a job.

“It’s not every day we have someone like Tariq walk through our doors,” Jon said.

“He’s very dedicated to finding work and has always been reliable and punctual with appointments. He’s well-presented, fit and healthy and really motivated.”

Anyone who can offer Tariq some work can call Community Solutions on 4122 7666.
