Is it too early to start spreading the Christmas cheer?

WITH two months until Santa's big day, we asked out Facebook community if they think it's too early to start spreading the Christmas cheer.

While shops are starting to stock their shelves with Christmas lights and decorations, our Facebooker's are split on getting in early.

Some of our reader's pointed out the importance of Christmas shopping early to help with budgeting, while other's think it's all a big money making exercise.

HERE IS WHAT YOU SAID ON FACEBOOK

Diane Jackson: My tree goes up in November as I do not see the point in spending all the time on decorating the tree and house for only a few weeks I enjoy Christmas and think it's great the shops are starting to get stock.. If you don't want it don't buy it.. It's that simple

Peter Jackson: Those who do there whole houses for others to enjoy need to be able to replace items that were damaged or have stopped working over the last 12 months. It takes more than a day or 2 for those of us that do this to make our displays of a high enough standard for the rest in the area to enjoy the turn on of all the lights from Dec 1.

Raelene Cous: Presents I shop throughout the year, if I see something that suits someone on my list and it is within budget I buy it and then take the money for their present out of the Christmas budget.

Sonia Sorensen: We are sad to be bowing out after years if doing it but the cost is far too much it takes two houses to power our display so sad to be not doing it anymore.

Glenys Reid: I personally think 1st Dec. is soon enough, any earlier takes the magic away for the children. I don't put our tree/decorations up until around 3 weeks before the big day.

Macey Taylor:  They are turning the season into a money making exercise nothing more.

Roz Smith: Only doing Xmas shopping for little ones this year, can't afford for rest of family and would depend on the person if it's too early, havnt started mine yet, will start soon and get bits pieces each week, based on what I can afford .

Daryl Hemming: The perfect reason for another street party in the cbd.

Joy Oliver: I think the shops should wait for Halloween to come and go before Xmas stuff comes out, people can buy presents all year round, personally id prefer to wait for the 12 days of Xmas.

Wim Rietveld: My first reaction was that it is way too early. Then I read some of the other remarks and changed my mind. Lets get into the Christmas spirit.

Wendy Ballinger: Some people on a budget need to start shopping early. Hot Cross Buns seem to be in shops.

Kellzbellz Bills: I think this time of year is okay. When I see it in July is ridiculous.

Ryan Leman: December 1st is the beginning of Christmas. If anyone shops or decorates before this day, then they cannot complain about shops have Christmas stuff up early. If we dont shop, they wont put it up. Businesses are there to make money. The quicker people realise this, the the quicker the IQ of the world will go up.
