It's all bout looks for warwick capper in ring

FORMER bodyguard Scott Sanders protected a lot of people in that line of work.

Whether the former Fraser Coast resident can save Warwick Capper's self-proclaimed good looks from taking a bashing next week remains to be seen.

You can be sure big Wendell Sailor will have something to say about that.

The 35-year-old St George Illawarra Dragons star has promised to knock the former Sydney Swans full-forward out when the pair stand toe-to-toe in a charity boxing bout at the Star City Casino in Sydney next Thursday.

Half of the money raised will go to the Samoan tsunami appeal.

The Gold Coast-based Sanders has spent the past eight weeks getting Capper into shape for the fight and he said the former Aussie rules star, “meter man” and male escort (you can enjoy Capper's company for $1500), is fighting fit.

“He's been working real hard,” Sanders, a former boxer with more than 180 fights to his name who spent seven years living here before moving last year, said.

“He'll make it tough for Wendell without any doubt - don't worry about that.”

As for Capper himself, he said he wasn't worried by the prospect of facing Sailor in the four-round showdown - he's confident he can do the job thanks to the tutelage of Sanders.

“I'm really looking forward to getting in the ring - I can't wait mate,” he said after another intense workout with Sanders yesterday.

“It should be a lot of fun but I don't think Wendell will see it like that when I put him on his backside.”

Capper is best remembered for his tight shorts back in the 1980s and he said he would be wearing another body hugging pair for the fight.

“They'll be hot pink and about a size eight,” he laughed.

“I'm 45 but I reckon I could pass for 31 with the way I look.”

One man who knows all about the fight game, Hervey Bay's Olympian and Commonwealth Games champion, Jarrod Fletcher, said he thought Capper should invest in some huge headgear if he wants to keep his “looks”.

“Wendell will tear him apart - he'll bash him for sure.”

As for pink shorts, would Fletcher been seen wearing some anytime soon?
