I've got a problem, says serial golf course masturbator

"TERRIFYING" was how a Gympie magistrate yesterday described the experience of a woman, who looked across her Corella Rd living room to see a naked man gazing at her and masturbating on the other side of her glass sliding door.

Jason William Palm, 46, is in jail today after being sentenced in Gympie Magistrates Court yesterday for indecency with intent to offend, trespassing and breaching privacy.

"I do have a problem with alcohol and drugs," he told the court.

"The crimes I committed are not acceptable," he said.

According to undenied police submissions to the court, Palm admitted knowing his behaviour would terrify two separate female victims of offences on February 17 and 19.

Palm pleaded guilty to unlawfully observing the women in their golf course district homes, exposing himself to one and masturbating on January 21 and trespassing on February 14 and 18.

One victim told police that she was afraid to go outside, even to go shopping after dark.

"The crimes I committed are not acceptable," Palm told the court. "I do have a problem with alcohol and drugs and I need to address it."

Magistrate Chris Callaghan said Palm would serve a month of "actual time" with supervised parole for five months after that. His main victim was "in a place where she should not be afraid, because of the protection the home gives everybody," Mr Callaghan said.
