Since then, tributes have flooded in on social media.

The 18-year-old was diagnosed in March this year after his family noticed he had a slight limp on his side.

MRI scans at the Lismore Base Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital revealed a large brain tumour.

The only hope was to appeal to the country's top brain surgeon, Sydney-based Dr Charlie Teo.

However the highly technical surgery came at a cost of $80,000 which the family and friends had less than a week to raise,

Overwhelming community support saw the $80,000 target reached and exceeded and the surgery was successful, removing more than 95% of the tumour.

Despite the success of the surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, new growths formed and ultimately took the young man's life.
