ELECTION 2016: Jeanette puts hand up for Division 9 race

THE director of a graphic design company and motivator has put her hand up to run as a division nine candidate in next year's Fraser Coast Regional Council elections.

Scarness resident Jeanette Maynes made her candidacy announcement on social media on Saturday, including a list of priorities she sees for the division.

According to Ms Maynes' website, she moved to Hervey Bay in 1978 and has spent the last 15 years in Scarness.

"I have attended the Council meetings for the past 12 months and have educated myself with a vast understanding of Council matters and procedures and am eager to learn more from the inside," she wrote.

Among an extensive list of key issues for the area, Ms Maynes lists bringing back community consultation, supporting a de-amalgamation referendum and scrapping the planned $56 million sports precinct.

The division is currently held by Councillor Stuart Taylor.
