Jet truck blitzes bash crowds

A 1942 BLITZ jet truck had every-one in awe at the Bauple Nut Bash on Saturday.

“It was awesome,” organiser Rachel Ireland said.

“The jet truck was brought to the bash by "Mad" Ron Laycock, who actually lives in Bauple now so we like to claim him as ours.”

About 500 people attended the annual event which had families partying until about 11.30pm at the ancestral home of the macadamia nut, still known locally as the Bauple nut.

Bauple Nut and Spoon Races, Nut Shelling Competitions and Tug o’ Wars kept the kids entertained through the day, and singer Neil Duddy provided the sounds during the evening programme.

The night was topped off by a fireworks spectacular.
