Stewart, O'Reilly in political battle

IN AN onscreen event that promises to be more entertaining than the presidential elections on which it will be based, US political analysts and arch-rivals Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly are to battle it out in a 90-minute debate.

The Democrat-leaning Stewart and right-winger O'Reilly have long been sparring partners, appearing on each other's television shows to argue government policy.

Each time it has proved to be a ratings winner, with both articulate and well-reasoned, but utterly opposed on most matters.

The pair have decided to use that chemistry for a long debate - run along the lines of the US presidential debate - and already O'Reilly has revealed how things are likely to go.

"In order to illuminate the vital issues associated with the upcoming presidential election, Stewart and I will debate man-to-man, eye-to-eye," he said.
