HERVEY Bay will host the Junior State Cup until 2022 after a contract extension was agreed on Saturday.

Moments before the under-18 grand final at the cup on Saturday, Fraser Coast and Queensland representatives reached a deal.

This week Queensland Touch Football chief executive officer Jamie O'Connor said the future of the event on the Coast was threatened due to fields being at capacity.

Speaking to the Chronicle after the negotiations, O'Connor was buoyed by the agreement of a five-year extension.

"We love Hervey Bay - to negotiate a long-term deal is great for touch and great for everyone," he said.

The 2017 event was the final year in the current contract.
