Karrasch and Chappell win national school sport title
ALDRIDGE State High School's new national volleyball championship- winning captain Hannah Karrasch and Anniston Chappell have evolved into state leaders.
Scott Barker is one of Aldridge's volleyball coaches, and has helped coach the pair since they started the sport about three years ago.
"I think they've evolved into leaders,” he said. "They play specific roles.
"Ani's role is very different to Hannah. She has to be calculated as to where she places the ball, while Hannah is a leader in set-up plays. She's so dominant and athletic, and can attack from anywhere on the court.
"They play very different roles but they cover all of our bases.”
The two are members of the school's all-conquering under-15s team which has not only experienced success, but has helped launch a period of dominance for Aldridge.
Barker primarily coaches the Year 10 girls' team in strategy and takes them away to comps, while Rob Thiele helps develop their techniques during class.
