Kingfisher Bay Resort wins awards

FRASER Island workers and locals celebrated long and loud after the Kingfisher Bay Resort group took out a swag of awards at the Fraser Coast South Burnett Tourism Awards.

Kingfisher won three product categories and finished the evening with an individual award for local sales and marketing manager Tanya Young. Fraser Explorer Tours took out top honours in the tour operator category for the third consecutive year – and will now be inducted into the Tourism Hall of Fame.

Fraser Island Barges took out the transport operator category in its first year of entering.

Tours manager Colin Anderson said Fraser Island was an iconic destination and it was a real privilege to help visitors from around the world experience this special part of Queensland through the group’s touring, marine and resort products.

“We’d be remiss if we didn’t send out a special thanks to our hard working team of tour guides, marine, admin and support staff. We couldn’t deliver the experiences we do without their hard work and dedication.”

Mr Anderson said joy turned to disbelief on the night when Kingfisher Bay Resort’s Seabelle Restaurant went on to take out top honours in the restaurant category.

Seabelle was recognised for its use of local produce and bush tucker ingredients in place of traditional European herbs.

Local sales and marketing manager Tanya Young was presented with the young achiever award.
