LETTER: In any other job Everard would be sacked

THE Department of Local Government has finally dealt with the matter concerning Cr Darren Everard (FCC 2-6-16).

It ruled that he failed to comply with local government procedures by fabricating emails and sending them to the Fraser Coast Chronicle.

By his own admission Cr Everard described his actions as being dishonest and deceitful with which any sane ratepayer would agree.

The penalty handed down was – wait for it – a reprimand for inappropriate conduct.

Not unexpected with a local government department investigating a member of a local government authority.

No doubt if Cr Everard worked in private enterprise and sent fabricated emails to clients and acted dishonestly and deceitfully he would be sacked.

Unfortunately this is another example of how politics work in this day and age.

Live off the public purse, disregard regulatory procedures, run your own race and still have the audacity to remain in office and carry on as if nothing’s happened.
