Lifeline's mega book and toy sale opens for three-day event
IT IS a book buying bonanza at the Lifeline warehouse in Maryborough today, as thousands of books go on sale for this year's massive three day mega book and toy sale.
More than eight tonnes of books are up for grabs at the second annual book sale, which is raising money for Lifeline counselling services throughout the Fraser Coast.
Keen shoppers had their hands full of books, cassette tapes, video tapes, puzzles, children's toys and board games this morning, as volunteers worked to restock the warehouse with more second-hand products.
Lifeline warehouse manager David Slean said the first few hours of the sale had been a lot busier than anticipated.
"We didn't expect it to be so busy for a Friday," Mr Slean said.
"But it's a good sign.
"We are hoping to raise hopefully around $14,000 for the services, so we will be selling a lot of books."
Customers can pick up books and toys from the sale for as little as fifty cents, Mr Slean said.
"You can get ten cassettes for a dollar, and there are great prices on the old videos as well," he said.
The Lifeline Mega book and toy sale is located at the warehouse on the corner of Gympie Rd and Oleander Dr, Tinana.
Book-lovers can grab themselves a bargain by heading down to the sale today until 3.30pm, tomorrow from 8am to 3.30pm, or on Sunday from 8am to 2.30pm.
