Lightning strike kills more than 300 Reindeer in Norway

SOME 322 Reindeer were killed after lightning struck them during a storm in central southern Norway.

The storm hit the Hardangervidda mountain plateau in the Telemark region on Friday with Knut Nylend from the Norwegian Environment Agency told broadcaster NRK the animals were most likely killed by a single strike due to their tendency to stand close together.

The Hardangervidda is a large nature reserve located entirely above the treeline which leads to many species of Arctic animals been found in the area.

The are about 15,000 Reindeer living in the park.
