Little Emily has setback in her heart surgery recovery

A HERVEY Bay baby recovering in the Royal Brisbane Hospital after open-heart surgery has had a major setback and had to be intubated after a life-threatening episode on Tuesday night.

Emily Grace Wilson, who has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, underwent open-heart surgery at two days old and had been recovering well before the incident.

But after a setback she has been transferred back to the intensive care unit.

Kelly Wilson, who is from Hervey Bay, told the Chronicle about the support her family and friends on the Fraser Coast had given to her family since the arrival of their daughter.

On a Facebook page set up in support of Emily, the family said doctors were unsure what had caused the setback and asked their supporters to continue praying for their daughter.

On Thursday, an update on the page gave the promising news that Emily had enjoyed a stable night in the ICU and it was hoped doctors would extubate her either on Thursday or Friday.
