Little princess on Father's Day

TORQUAY'S Peter Martin received the greatest Father's Day gift anyone could ask for when he welcomed his baby girl Layla Jayde into the world.

The proud first-time Dad couldn't take his eyes off his little princess, who was born at 9.41am yesterday and weighed 7lb 14oz (3590g).

"It feels great," said Peter, who got to cut the umbilical cord following his partner Tammie Owen's eight-hour labour at the Hervey Bay Hospital.

Mother and daughter were both in good health yesterday.

"I can't wait to take her home," Peter said of the sleeping new-born. "I don't want to let her go."
