A HILARIOUS if unfortunate video showing a man being showered in llama spit on the Darling Downs has emerged online.

Drew Baker was at the Darling Downs Zoo visiting the popular llama exhibit.

Video shows the hungry animal eating a bucket of food.

The animal snatches the bucket with its mouth and devours the feed.

"Yep that's gone," Mr Baker said.

"Try getting that back Drew," an unidentified woman said.

"Alpacca one, Drew zero."

He's then warned that something unpleasant may be about to happen.

"He's going to spit on you."

About one second later the llama showers the camera, and Mr Baker, with spit.

"I had an unfriendly encounter with a llama at the Darling Downs Zoo today, when it decided to spit all of the food I just feed it in my face," he said.

The video was posted in 2015 but has resurfaced after being posted on Reddit.

Llamas, domesticated South American camelids, are known to sometimes spit at humans.
