IT WAS all smiles recently when Hervey Bay Legacy received a donation for $1000.

Naval Association of Australia Fraser Coast sub-branch president Peter McDermott wanted to boost the funds of the charity in light of Legacy Week.

The ex-serviceman said he put the notion forward at the group's September meeting and it was voted the donation would go ahead.

"We also recognise the importance of supporting the widows and immediate families of our past members," Mr McDermott said.

"We respect the work Legacy does and this is our way of contributing."
