Outriggers come home with medals
THE FRASER Coast Outrigger Canoe Club came home with some top results from the OC1 and OC2 event held in Noosa.
Paddlers from Gladstone to Coffs Harbour took part in the hotly contested event, which was the final event in the South Queensland Zone four part series.
Calm conditions greeted the outriggers on the day, with light winds.
Carl Silke and Jane Birch finished first in the OC2 senior master mixed short and long course events at the meet while Bryanne Eyles and Sandra Wallis finished first in both the OC2 senior master women short and long course events.
Peter Bray from Burrum Heads and Bryanne Eyles finished first in the OC2 mixed master short course event.
Nick Le Roux won the OC1 open men short course event.
He also came second in the OC2 mixed long course event with Jenaya Davis.
The junior paddlers in the club also did themselves proud with Jess Harris becoming the overall winner in the under 12 OC1 and OC2 series.
Ross Carnegie and Harris teamed up to come second in the under 12 OC2 race.
Merana Patara came first in the under 12 OC2 race.
Teotomi Patara came third in the under 16 OC1 race.
She also teamed up with Sandy Wallis, a senior master paddler, to win the OC2 open short course mixed race.
Jen Davis teamed up with Le Roux to come second in the OC2 open mixed long course event.
