THE NEXT instalment of the cult novel turned movie Twilight saga could include a track from a local artist.

Maryborough mum Crystal Newman has recorded a song which she hopes could make it onto the soundtrack for Breaking Dawn Part II.

The 30-year-old American native moved to Maryborough from Ohio with her husband and has slowly been breaking into the local music scene by busking at markets and doing weekend sessions at cafes.

She’s been singing for the past 10 years but only picked up a pen in the past few months.

She said she was inspired to write the song after falling in love with the book the movie is to be based on.

“I just had a chorus going through my head that would not go away,” Ms Newman said

“Finally the rest came together. I thought I’d try and get it heard.”

Since recording the song in her home studio a few weeks ago, Ms Newman has posted it on YouTube and more than 100 Twilight fan sites.

Already the song has been well received and has even received airplay on a Chicago radio station.

She recently sent the track to the company which selects the music for the soundtrack and is hopeful that the exposure she receives will grab their attention.

“It would be absolutely amazing to get it on there,” Ms Newman said.
