Magic finish in third yacht race

AQUAMAGIC lived up to its name on the weekend while sailing in the third race of the Hervey Bay Boat Club Yacht Squadron’s summer series.

The yacht finished first on handicap, earning itself valuable points in the club championship race on the weekend.

Nine boats competed on the weekend with two different start times for the boats.

Grey Ghost, Detente, Sly Little Bear, Red Ted, Remedy and Aquamagic started at 10am while Pocahontas, Fraser Coast Boating and Midnight Rambler II started at 10.30am.

A great day of sailing was had by all in top racing conditions – a north to north-easterly wind ranging from 10 to 15 knots kept the boats moving – and even the crew of Sly Little Bear, which had gear failure and was unable to finish the race, said they had a great time

The next race in the Hervey Bat Boat Club Yacht Squadron’s summer series will be held on December 6.

The boats will sail around Woody Island.

The briefing for the race will be held at 8.30am.
